SUMMARY:Book Launch cum Seminar: The New Era in Today’s China
DESCRIPTION:The New Era in Today’s China by Mr Koh King Kee, was launched on November 25, 2022 at Le Méridien Petaling Jaya amid a select gathering of scholars, think tankers, friends and members of the media. A special address was delivered by Tan Sri Ong Tee Keat, Chairman of the Centre for New Inclusive Asia.\nChina is often misunderstood and even stigmatised by the mainstream media and some Western scholars. The New Era in Today’s China explains what the country can bring to the world. The book comprehensively examines China in the new era and what it means for the future world, including its domestic politics, economy, society and culture, as well as China’s global engagement, world image, and international communication. It covers key topics such as China-US relations, poverty reduction, common prosperity, Covid-19 pandemic control, China’s relations with Asean, and the Belt and Road Initiative. In contrast to West-centric, outside-in, and often biased opinions about China, this book takes an inside-out perspective and tells true stories about China’s latest developments under the administration of President Xi Jinping.\nThe author Mr Koh King Kee is the President of the Centre for New Inclusive Asia, and Vice President of the International Academic Network for a Community with Shared Future. He is also the President of Dr Wu Lien-Teh Education Society, Malaysia. Koh, a veteran in the field of China studies and well-known for his insightful views about the country, is also an advisor to several established think tanks in China.\nAfter the release of the book, a seminar with the theme “The New Era in Today’s China” was held.
